'Parents' magazine cover with JW.org cartoon kids
by undercover inmaking the rounds on facebook among jws is a photo of a 'parents' magazine cover that shows the cgi jw.org kids on the cover, and an article headline about how wonderful the teaching tools on jw.org are.
(i don't have the time or the desire to hunt the photo and post it - sorry).
i immediately suspected some bored and naive jw doing some photoshopping.

that's an absolutely terrible photoshop job. I could do a better job using MS Paint. -

Won't get fooled again ...Moon Landing.
by The Rebel inso i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.

How the fuck are there 17 pages on this topic. Here, I'll make it short and sweet: Man landed on the moon. End of story. If you don't believe that you are a fucking idiot and should probably place a bullet in the back of your brain. -

Jehovah Witness Wikapedia written by the same people who write the publications?
by thedepressedsoul ini took a look at the jehovah's witnesses wikipedia page for the first time and i couldn't help but notice it was worded very closely to how jw's publications are.
the good stuff seems to be very positive while the negative items seem to be very downplayed.
the talk of persecution is enough to get your average jw wet.

Didn't some people figure out that IP addresses based in NYC were editing JW pages? -

Samuel Herd 3 min video - the most misogynistic words I ever heard from a "godly man"

Hey Petragplyph, is there a video of that Herd video? It sounds like there's some weird hiccups in the audio . Almost like cuts or edits. I'd love to have the video of it for authenticity. -

i hope this email finds you well.
i would like to say thank you for your work on the royal commission, particularly in your handling of the jehovah's witnesses elders and experts during questioning.

So I got to listen to most of her testimony today and the whole time I'm thinking, "what the hell is she there to prove." Eventually it was revealed and it's fucking hilarious. Great job WT! Can't even prep your own paid expert when you well know what she's going to be asked. -

Rejecting something due to unscriptural or pagan origins.....?
by stuckinarut2 inso witnesses reject many practices or holidays due to their "unscriptural or pagan" origins.. for example, birthday celebrations, mothers or father's day, christmas etc..... most people in the world will say "but the origin doesn't matter anymore, we follow this custom now because it's a joyful occasion that creates happy times and brings the family together".
it is still firmly rejected.. so, if the wrong origin is so important, and should result in rejecting something, why isn't the same principle applied to the actual jehovah's witness faith itself!?.
after all, the very foundation of the organisation was based on wrong understandings of the bible, far fetched teachings and doctrines, links to false religious backgrounds, pyramidology, false predictions, inaccurate beliefs etc...... using their reasoning, it doesn't matter how good something is now, if the origin was faulty to begin with?

There was a Watchtower maybe 10 years ago or so? It had two articles. One on wedding bands and one on birthdays. With weddings bands the article says that even though it did have pagan origins, because those pagan things aren't a thing anymore, it's just a custom now and it's ok.
A few pages later, on birthdays, it totally flips that logic. Because birthdays are pagan in origin, they are wrong. That was one of the first things that really got me to starting waking up. A couple years at Bethel did it too lol.
